Hard drive data recovery video
Xytron data recovery labs have created a short and informative show reel which offers a brief insight into hard drive and data recovery technology.
Data is now our most important 21st century asset and must be protected and preserved, data loss can be catastrophic for both personal and business data.
Our labs have been recovering data for government, business and home users for 5 years and have solutions for all data loss situations.
The first hard drive had a total capacity of only 5 MB! with 2 TB now available this shows the growth of this data storage media, with this growth comes a trade off in reliability as the same form factor is used today as 20 years ago, namely the five and a quarter 5.1/4 size, however the BPI bits per inch and track widths have increased hugely, making any margin for error for low indeed.
Heat and power cycling are also a major issue with hard drive storage and can cause major issues with the HSA head stack assembly and magnetic surfaces, the video shows a hard drive crash simulation where the heads crash into the the platter surface.
Coffee soaked hard drive example is also covered in the film where accounts data were successfully recovered for a business man who had accounts data stored on the device.
The hard disk drive has some connection with space age technology, namely PRML partial response maximum likelihood this technology is used in space comms and also used to read and write data to the hard drive platters.
